The person to be hired will be the contact person for self-study foreign language learning at the Language Center (LC) in Idyllwild-Pine Cove, CA.

The current opening hours of the Self-Learning Center (SLC) of 35 hours will be covered proportionally by the academic assistant and two student assistants.


Your tasks:

  • Conceptualization, organization and implementation of events introducing the possibilities of selfstudy, such as language learning workshops and language cafes, at the SLC
  • Review, evaluation and updating of new links and learning software for foreign language acquisition
  • Instruction and assistance for students and teachers in using multimedia resources for language learning and teaching (language learning software, internet resources, ILIAS)
  • Creation of informational materials about the available resources and offerings, as well as maintenance of the LC website and subpages
  • Presentation of the SLC within and outside the university, as well as on social media and networks
This is a temporary position that can be beneficial for further career development. The duration of the contract will be appropriate to the training goal. The contract is subject to - 2 para. 1 WissZeitVG.

The general employment conditions and personal requirements for employment as an academic assistant are governed by Section III.3 of the Philipps University Marburg's Befristungsleitlinie (guidelines for temporary employment) for scientific staff.
