    **Assistant Cook**

    POSITION OVERVIEW: Under the supervision of Kitchen Coordinator, the Assistant Cook is responsible for assisting in all aspects of food preparation and service, serve food to participants while providing a high level of customer service, accept deliveries, clean dishes, utensils and pots, maintain order in the stock room and drop off food and beverage for meetings and functions, as needed.

    QUALIFICATIONS: The Assistant Cook must possess NYCDOHMH Food Handler Certificate and a minimum 2 years work experience preparing a high volume of meals and working in a fast pace environment . The Assistant Cook must have at least 2 years of experience in food preparation. The Assistant Cook is expected to work effectively as a team member and other agency components. Computer literacy, bilingual and experience with older adults is a plus.

    RESPONSIBILITIES :

    Coordinate the preparation and service of food to Older Adults, following NYC DFTA nutrition guidelines and NYC Department of Health Regulations

    Provide approximately meals a day

    Assures the meals maintain high quality and are delivered on time

    Monitors and maintains the inventory of food and supplies and presents with the Kitchen Coordinator weekly and monthly updates to the Director.

    Orders food and supplies in sufficient quantities for weekly meals and monitors deliveries and payment of bills

    Assist Kitchen Coordinator determine work schedule assignments for Kitchen staff and Volunteers

    Assists in daily clean-up of kitchen including cupboard, shelves, work surfaces, and cooking equipment, daily

    Maintain Qualified Food Protection Certification

    Assure and maintain adherence to DOHMH and DFTA sanitation standards

    Help to maintains temperature records related to meals served, inventory, and update daily senior menu board

    Lifts and carries food provisions

    Arranges and directs the appropriate storage and safety standards of food and supplies

    Monitors work of Kitchen Aides and volunteers

    In the absence of the Kitchen Coordinator , assume responsibility for cooking and serving meals following DFTA nutrition guidelines and Department of Health regulations

    Perform other duties as assigned
