    Job Listing: Assistant Cook at West Side Federation for Senior and Supportive Housing

    This job opportunity is for an Assistant Cook position at the West Side Federation for Senior and Supportive Housing. As an Assistant Cook, you will work under the supervision of the Food Service Manager and/or Cook 2#, being responsible for meal preparation, serving, and clean-up. Your main duties will include:

    • Working with team members to prepare and distribute meals.
    • Following all kitchen evaluated recipes required by DOH.
    • Cleaning food service areas, equipment, kitchen, storage area, and dining area.
    • Following food safety procedures outlined by NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
    • Assisting in food deliveries and storage while adhering to regulations.
    • Meeting with supervisors to discuss food service.
    • Monitoring the dining room during meals.
    • Other duties as assigned, including meal preparation and clean-up.

    Additionally, you will work collaboratively with the team to provide a high level of care and respect for residents. Qualifications expected for this role include:

    • Minimum of 6 months of cooking and meal preparation experience.
    • NYC Food Handlers Certificate obtained within 90 days of employment.
    • At least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent.
    • Ability to lift 25lbs, climb stairs, and stand for extended periods.

    Working hours for this position are Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 7am to 7pm, totaling 33 hours per week.
