Duties:


  • Reviews healthcare delivery systems and/or services for efficiency.
  • Trains employees in areas such as data collection, source verification, and administrative tasks to improve workflow.
  • Assigns work to subordinate employees to meet organizational goals.
  • Directs all aspect of access management to include system processes to insure access to face to face and virtual healthcare options.

Conditions of Employment:


  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
  • Oneyear supervisory probationary period required. A oneyear probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.
  • Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • A preplacement medical examination is required
  • Moderate to heavy lifting up to 15 pounds may be required.
  • This position may include shift work (evenings, weekends, holidays).
  • This position may require the incumbent to work on call during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.
  • This position may require the incumbent to work weekends and/or holidays.
  • Tuberculosis Testing may be required.

Basic Requirements for Supervisory Health System Specialist:

Specialized Experience:

One year of specialized experience which includes
analyzing health care systems and/or processes to determine trends in patient care; utilizing automated healthcare databases and/or office automation software to enter and retrieve data; and assisting with workload distribution among subordinates.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education:

Ph.

D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration.

Combination of Education and Experience:

A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.

Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18.

Add the two percentages.
