Our collaboration between Helmholtz Munich and the University of Rostock (Chair for Analytical Chemistry) focuses on researching ambient aerosols, their sources, and their effects on human health.

Our well-equipped laboratories at CMA are conveniently located in Munich Sendling with easy access to public transportation.

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented bachelor or master student (f/m/x) with a background in biology.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to combine theory and practice to understand the health effects of aerosols on humans using in vitro methods.

Through your thesis, you will gain valuable skills in in vitro toxicology, aerosol science, cell culture (air-liquid interface, mono- and co-culture models), and fluorescent imaging.

The project's goal is to investigate the toxicity of commonly used flavorings in e-liquids.

You will conduct experiments on alveolar and bronchial epithelial cell models exposed to aerosols using a VITROCELL Automated Exposure Station.

Your work will involve evaluating cytotoxicity, genotoxicity, oxidative stress, and inflammatory response to understand the toxic effects of different flavors.
