Servers are in many ways the face of the restaurant, interacting with guests and other hotel departments at the highest level of hospitality, comporting themselves with genuine warmth, courtesy, and professionalism.

Ivy Hotel F&B Servers have extensive knowledge of all menu items, ingredients, and methods of preparation; and are responsible for coordinating with hotel and restaurant staff to provide a dining experience that exceeds guest expectations.

JOB DUTIES

  • Ensure proper setup of all service areas
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the menu(s) and ingredients, be fully conversant with food and beverage options offered in the mansion, and provide explanations as requested
  • Maintain an enjoyable dining experience: delivering items, fulfilling customer needs, offering desserts and drinks, removing courses, replenishing utensils, refilling glasses
  • Enter all orders into the POS
  • Be responsible for the running of your station, private function, or room service
  • Ensure that company policies, vision statement, and departmental objectives are followed at all times
  • Obtain feedback from guests to improve service and pass it on to management
  • Greet all guests and owners by appropriate title and last name
  • Contribute to the formulation and review of risk assessment for the work areas
  • Take responsibility for monitoring and reporting any health and safety issues to management
  • Employ safe practices, act as a role model, and provide guidance to staff to ensure that their safety and that of guests is protected
  • Be fully aware of the hotel's fire and safety procedures and health and safety regulations
  • Liaise with managers to ensure tight stock control and budgeted margins are achieved
  • Communicate with management to ensure products, supplies, and equipment are ready and available for the execution of service
  • Ensure all appliances, fixtures, and fittings are safe and work in accordance with health & safety regulations, and report any faults to management
  • Assist with special events as needed
  • Report for duty on time and in full uniform, according to appearance and grooming standards

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Walking, bending, kneeling, lifting, climbing and carrying
  • Ability to transport objects such as highchairs, bins, glass racks and other restaurant/hotel equipment and lift up to 50 pounds. Hot liquids in large containers must be carefully transported
  • Fastpaced mobility for long periods of time
  • Close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus
  • Ability to tolerate heat from proximity to stoves and burners
  • Ability to safely use knives, slicers, mixers, etc.
