Duties:


  • Responds to and investigates emergency calls, complaints and other calls for service.
  • Collects and preserves evidence, conducts long and shortterm investigations on criminal cases and analyze facts to identify suspects.
  • Provides sworn testimony based on the investigative process, evidence gathered, witness' statements in criminal and traffic courts.
  • Conducts traffic law enforcement patrol using specialized equipment such as radar, Lidar and breathalyzer.
  • Apprehends violators as required by applicable laws or regulations.
  • Responds to radio calls or reports situations that are general assistance.

Requirements:


Conditions of Employment:


  • Successfully graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy; or successfull ygraduate within 12 months of hire date; or is a current employee and is considered grandfathered IAW AR
  • Incumbent must be able to successfully pass training, certification and qualification requirements related to law enforcement work functions as prescribed by policy, regulations or statutes.
  • Successfully pass a preemployment and recurring medical / psychiatric evaluation.
  • Pass a Physical Agility Test (PAT) within 30 days of hire date and annually thereafter.
  • Comply with and maintain the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP).
  • This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program.
  • The 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 covers this position. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position.
  • Incumbent in this position is designated as Mission Essential (IAW DODI and DTM position during Inclement Weather Conditions or other designed/identified emergency conditions.
  • Incumbent must possess a valid state driver's license.
  • Incumbent must possess a valid government motor vehicle operator's license.
  • Incumbent must be able obtain and maintain a valid Secret security clearance.
  • Official Temporary Duty (TDY) up to 10% of the time may be required.

  • Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience in conducting law enforcement patrols, responding to emergencies and reporting criminal activity up the chain of command.
  • This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS06).

Education:

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone-no substitution for experience is permitted.
