**Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f/d) for the Development of Magnetic Resonance Gradient Systems

Field of Study:
Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or Electrical Engineering


Organizational Unit:

Institute of Microstructure Technology (IMT)


Your Tasks:


The goal of the project is to create compact and lightweight magnet systems that can be directly integrated into technical systems outside of the laboratory.

In this context, an alternative to the established technology of resistive coils is to be developed.


Your responsibilities include:

  • Development of magnetic resonance gradient systems based on permanent magnets
  • Computer simulation (finite element method) of gradient systems and permanent magnets
  • Design of prototypes, including electronic control systems and software
  • Production of prototypes
  • Characterization of the magnetic field profile and dynamic behavior of the magnet/gradient system
  • Publication of results in international journals and conferences
  • Supervision of student work

Your Qualifications:


You have:

  • Completed a master's degree in mechanical engineering, materials science, physics, or electrical engineering, with a completed doctorate
  • Knowledge of CAD and experience with finite element modeling
  • Experience in designing and manufacturing scientific instruments
  • Knowledge of MEMS and/or experience with precision actuators is advantageous
  • Knowledge of magnetic resonance is advantageous
  • Excellent English language skills, both written and spoken
  • A structured and independent working style
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
