  • Bar Back**
    Position Summary:The
    Bar Back is crucial to creating and maintaining a wellorganized and functioning bar. The bar back will assist in cleaning the bar, preparing garnishes, ensuring the bar is well stocked with napkins, straws, glassware, garnishes, and all other necessities, and taking on other duties to support the bartender and ensure that the bar operates smoothly. You should be knowledgeable about menu items, attentive, and focused on providing the best possible service in a fastpaced environment.


To be a successful Vela Bar Back, you should be passionate about working as part of a team to deliver excellent drinks and service to customers.

You should be efficient, reliable, and perceptive with excellent communication and time management skills.


Essential Job Functions

  • Ensure that all bar areas are set up properly for opening.
  • Maintain the bar and lounge areas in a neat and orderly condition at all times.
  • Works with a sense of urgency to anticipate customer needs and other team members.
  • Replenish ice as needed/requested.
  • Ensure all bartenders have sufficient supplies throughout the shift.
  • Performs all opening and closing duties as assigned
  • Maintains cleanliness of stations with necessary equipment including stocking and polishing glassware.
  • Preparation of all batching and bottling of beverages and syrups for cocktails.
  • Prepping all garnish (including cutting produce, herbs, etc.)
  • Must be able to read and follow recipes to ensure quality of production, must have ability to multitask and have good verbal and written communication skills.

Required Skills/Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2+ years experience in similar capacity.
  • Thrive in a fastpaced, high volume environment, and maintain a calm demeanor while quickly and effectively solving problems.
  • Must be hospitable, approachable, and passionate about guest service and respectful towards colleagues and guests.
  • Must be able to demonstrate competency as outlined in the training schedule.
  • Must be able to work flexible shifts and schedules, including weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to take direction, work in a team environment autonomously.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to seize, grasp, turn, and hold objects with hands.
  • Must be able to make periodical fast paced movements and move throughout the venue with ease.
  • Must be able to move, pull, carry, or lift at least 20lbs.
  • Must be able to occasionally kneel, bend, crouch, and climb as required.
  • Must be able to perform physical activities such as lifting, cleaning, and stooping.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, lift, and bend for long periods of time.
