Position Purpose


According to the overall needs of the organization and under the direction of the Substance Abuse Program Manager, the Outreach and Recruitment Specialist will be responsible for actively recruiting eligible participants into the organization's MPOWER program (Manifesting Positive Outcomes through Wellness, Education, and Recovery) Program.

MPOWER's target population is Black queer men and Black Cis women


Essential Functions

  • Actively recruit individuals from the target population into the program (experience with online geosocial recruitment, and comfort navigating street outreach that is directly relevant to the target population, is essential).
  • Collaborate with Prevention/Outreach staff to implement outreach strategies and activities that encourage participation in the program.
  • Conduct outreach events and education presentations as appropriate to the goals and objectives of the program.
  • Ensure accurate and timely data collection, entry, and reporting for all program related clientlevel data.
  • Attend community meetings, events and forums, and agency special events and programs (e.g. workshops, festivals, health fairs, etc.).
  • Maintain required records, files, and forms in an organized manner and in accordance with HIPAA and other related state, local, and federal guidelines.
  • Participate in staff meetings, clinical meetings, and complete necessary trainings.
  • Follow universal safety precautions at all times.
  • Other related duties as assigned by the program manager.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree.
  • Minimum of 2 years working in the field of HIV/AIDS.
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience (paid or volunteer) working in a communitybased organization.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of community resource and local referrals for HIV/STI and additional appropriate clientcentered referrals.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Regular and predictable attendance are required and must be able to work extended hours, including weekends, early mornings, evenings, and holidays according to the demands of the role.
  • Demonstrated cultural competence in working with people of color and the LGBTQ community as well as experience and knowledge working with those living with and affected by HIV/AIDS.

Salary:

Starting at $43,000/annually (Depending on Experience)
