    We are looking for a Data Engineer at Bloomberg!

    Bloomberg is a leading data company revolutionizing the way people utilize alternative data. The journey began with Bloomberg Second Measure (BSM), a data product that leverages consumer transaction data to analyze company performance and consumer trends.

    Join our Alternative Data Platform team, a group of software and systems engineers dedicated to creating a scalable and reliable platform for developing data products from alternative data sources.

    Here's what this role entails:

    • Designing, constructing, and managing the data processing platform to empower data professionals to build and deploy data products efficiently.
    • Developing and maintaining the query and data infrastructure crucial for researching, developing, and publishing alternative data.

    We operate our platform on AWS and utilize technologies like Kubernetes, Spark, and Trino to enhance our services. Our collaborative environment encourages innovation and continuous improvement.

    Your responsibilities will include:
    • Building APIs to streamline data processing system deployments.
    • Exploring and incorporating new data and analytics technologies into the platform.
    • Utilizing existing technologies creatively to solve challenges.
    • Managing cloud resources efficiently.
    • Developing tools and user interfaces to improve usability and developer independence.

    We are looking for candidates with:

    • 4+ years of experience with development languages like Python, Go, or Typescript.
    • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
    • Experience maintaining and debugging production systems and cloud infrastructure.
    • Interest in exploring various aspects of the platform, from AWS VPCs to file formats.
    • Knowledge of distributed systems and service architectures.
    We'd love to see:
    • Engineers proficient in multiple languages for building production systems.
    • Experience with technical data systems such as Spark, Flink, and technologies like Parquet and cloud object-stores.
    • Expertise in managing and deploying systems using Kubernetes, Mesos, or Nomad.
    • Prior experience automating cloud infrastructure operations with tools like Terraform and Ansible.

    Salary Range: 160,000 USD Annually + Benefits + Bonus
