    Department Description

The UCSF Department of Psychiatry at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital includes multiple programs located in the community. The largest of these, the Division of Citywide Case Management, provides intensive clinical case management and other behavioral health services designed for adults with serious mental illness.

One of the Citywide Division programs, the Substance Treatment Outpatient Program (STOP), provides outpatient addiction treatment for stimulants, alcohol, and other drugs in the context of serious mental illness, and long-term institutionalization and homelessness. Services include evidence-based, culturally responsive, trauma-informed group and individual counseling, supportive family counseling as indicated, contingency management, intensive clinical case management, and community outreach. Services are integrated in larger mental health, medical or criminal justice settings.

The target population includes people of all ages, races, ethnicities, sexual orientations, gender identities, religious or spiritual practices, socioeconomic classes, partnership statuses, and physical and mental disabilities.
