The Team You'll Work With
The Mayor's Office of Communications leads the effort to inform, update, and engage New Yorkers

about Mayor Eric Adams commitments to getting stuff done for all New Yorkers.


The Problems You'll Solve
The Director will report directly to the Deputy Mayor for Communications. S/he will work closely with

other members of the communications team and numerous city agencies to develop and execute high

record of success, an adept communicator and creative problem solver. Primary responsibilities


include:

  • Direct the development and execution of creative, sophisticated and highimpact digital
communications strategies and efforts that advance the Mayor's goals and visibility.

  • Develop strategies to use multimedia content, social media, SMS, website, and other digital
media tactics to reach and engage a greater number of New Yorkers.

  • Incorporate digital media into all communications efforts to maximize the effectiveness and
reach of key messages.

  • Develop a digital first strategy and culture for breaking news.
  • Establish aggressive short
- and long-term digital goals, and work with the broader team to

execute them.

  • Work with the Communications Director and communications staff on overall
communications planning and implementation, including message development, strategic

guidance, and coordination.

  • Work closely with the Creative Communications team to ensure generated content is widely
seen.

  • Develop a digital community of allies that will be eager to share the administration's
message.


About You

  • You have a Bachelor's degree and 7+ years of experience in digital communications, with
preference for government, politics, public affairs, or strategic communications, preferably in a

political or issue advocacy campaign setting.

  • You have 2 to 3 years of handson digital media leadership experience, with a strong track
record of helping to lead effective digital communications campaigns.

  • You have an eye for issues and content that will engage New Yorkers.
  • You have excellent interpersonal and verbal skills.
  • You have the ability to understand complex policy and political issues and develop clear,
concise, and persuasive messages related to them.

  • You are highly organized and deadlinedriven to help keep a team on track to advance multiple
assignments at once in a fast-paced environment, strong project management skills.

  • You have a proven ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • You have experience working with diverse communities.
  • You have the ability to work independently and collaboratively, while listening and learning
from feedback.

  • You have the ability to thrive in a busy, multitasking, and timepressured environment.

Salary
The City of New York Office of the Mayor's compensation package includes a market competitive

salary, equity for all full-time roles and exceptional benefits. Our cash compensation range for this role

is
$130,000 to $170,000.
