Description

Devine Plastic and Rubber Technologists plan the production of plastic and rubber products and set up machines and equipment for manufacturing.

They operate the equipment, meaning they start up the machines, monitor each production step, adjust the production process if necessary, and ensure the supply of materials.

They also inspect the finished products for their thermal, chemical, and mechanical quality. In addition, they maintain and service the equipment. They clean and properly store the removed molding tools until their next use. They also test the quality of the products, such as their dimensional accuracy, in the measurement laboratory. Furthermore, they monitor compliance with occupational safety and environmental regulations. Specialization opportunities arise from the focus chosen during training.

What matters:
Precision is required, for example, when accurately calculating and assembling the rubber mixture according to the recipe. Occupational safety must be considered when working with machines, presses, and rolling mills. For this, caution is essential. In order to be able to build and test pneumatic and hydraulic circuits, knowledge of physics is necessary. Knowledge of chemistry is important for determining the properties of different raw materials. Your spatial imagination is crucial when reading technical drawings and documents.
