At the University of Music and Theatre "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" Leipzig, a teaching assignment in the subject of School Practical Music is available for the winter semester 2024/25 in the Faculty III, at the Institute for Music Education.

The assignment will consist of approximately two to five semester hours per week.

The subject includes piano instruction in a diverse range of styles, including improvised accompaniment for songs and improvisation, score reading, basso continuo, and sight-reading.

The focus is on teaching appealing and technically convincing folk song playing, as well as diverse styles of song accompaniment.

Depending on the breadth of the subject, there is potential for emphasis in other areas.

Applicants must have the appropriate professional qualifications.

Previous teaching experience at a university and/or high school is desirable, as well as openness to the needs of the entire teacher training program.

Experience in piano instruction (literature playing, including elementary level) would be beneficial for potential additional teaching in the related subject of "School Practical Piano Playing" (combination of literature playing and song accompaniment in elementary school teacher training), but is not a requirement for application.


The teaching assignment will be based on § 68 of the Saxon Higher Education Act for one semester or one academic year.
