Purpose:
Amentum is currently seeking a Sr Heavy Equipment Mechanic-Track for our APS-2 contract in Germany. This role may require occasional deployment to other sites for equipment inspections and may involve overtime work.

The mechanic will be responsible for performing maintenance and modifications on military equipment such as tanks, fighting vehicles, howitzers, and other related items.

They will also work on light tracks, specifically the M113 Family of vehicles.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate must be able to perform the following duties:

  • Diagnose system malfunctions, isolate causes, and make necessary repairs
  • Dismantle and reassemble equipment using Technical Manuals (TM)
  • Understand when to repair or replace major end items
  • Inspect, repair, and replace components, engines, transmissions, and subassemblies
  • Identify parts and order replacements as needed
  • Perform annual service on equipment fleet
  • Conduct road tests on vehicles after repairs and services have been completed
  • Mentor and train subordinate mechanics to improve technical skills
  • Read and understand hydraulic and electrical diagrams and schematics
  • Fabricate and repair hoses
  • Complete other duties as assigned or requested
  • Maintain a daily timesheet and manning report with accurate hours
  • Provide own basic mechanics tool set
