JOB DESCRIPTION:

General Manager (GM) Role: The GM is entrusted with leading through Ulta Beauty's mission, vision, and values to cultivate a high-performing team that consistently drives top-line sales growth at the store.
The GM oversees a team of managers and is responsible for all aspects of managing a retail store, including the salon.
This leadership role focuses on performance (sales, service, and expense control), people (talent acquisition, training, and development), and process (standard operating procedures and compliance standards).
The position demands a passion for operational excellence, a results-driven mindset, and the ability to inspire, influence, and nurture the team.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Promote a culture of accountability to achieve or surpass Ulta Beauty's retail and service sales targets, guest loyalty, payroll management, omni-channel performance, and retail shrink goals set for the store.
Enhance company profitability through operational efficiency, sales growth, and controlling expenses.
Utilize store forecasts and payroll budgets to optimize scheduling, boost productivity, meet sales targets, and manage workloads effectively within budget constraints.
Stay informed on industry trends, products, and services, and educate both guests and associates about these to enhance the shopping experience and drive sales.
Ensure the team's adherence to Ulta Beauty's attendance policy and lead by example.

PEOPLE MANAGEMENT:

Recruit, hire, and retain a diverse team while addressing staffing needs promptly and fairly.
Collaborate with the DM and People Success to handle policy violations and address them according to company guidelines.
Foster a highly engaged team that embodies Ulta Beauty's brand through communication, teamwork, and effective task management.
Prioritize manager and associate development, including training, coaching, performance evaluations, and individual development plans to drive growth and sales performance.

PROCESS IMPROVEMENT:

Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
Utilize scheduling and task management tools to optimize staffing, enhance the guest experience, and execute directives efficiently.
Protect assets, maintain inventory control, and mitigate losses through strict adherence to operational procedures.
Support the adoption of company initiatives, technology, and best practices for continuous improvement.
Use resources effectively to drive store enhancements and provide feedback on business trends to field leadership.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Bachelor's degree preferred
Experience: 3-5+ years in fast-paced retail management or relevant roles
Skills: Proficiency in technology, strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills, ability to handle pressure and adapt to change.

SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Work a flexible, full-time schedule including weekends and holidays.
Close the store at least once a week.
Attend corporate meetings, conferences, and travel as needed.
Hold valid identification for travel.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Regular computer and office supply use.
Frequent movement, bending, lifting, and carrying during shifts.
Continuous walking and object manipulation.
