Essential Job Duties

  • Performs detailed review of completion reports for oil and gas wells.
  • Validates and analyzes data relating to oil and gas well activities.
  • Prepares plans, specifications, estimates, reports, and related documents for compliance with laws and standards, and makes recommendations for improvements.
  • Prepares correspondence and technical reports.
  • Performs engineering/geological assessments, modeling, and monitoring.
  • Assists with preparing correspondence and technical reports.
  • May provide technical guidance on the evaluation of data, coordination of research, analysis of issues, and preparation of reports and recommendations.
  • May assist with the development of new or refined procedures and processes.
  • May assist with evaluating data and conducting research to analyze issues.
  • May train others.
  • Performs additional related essential tasks to maintain production workflow.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:


  • B.S. in Engineering, Geology or other scientific degree from an accredited fouryear college or university.
  • Experience and education may be substituted for one another.
  • Experience in engineering work.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Twelve (12) months experience in engineering and/or geological work.
  • Experience in oil and gas regulatory functions and knowledge of the Railroad Commission's rules, policies, and procedures.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Skill in the use of computers and computeraided design equipment and in the use and maintenance of scientific instruments.
  • Ability to plan and oversee projects.
  • Knowledge of the oil and gas regulatory functions and Railroad Commission rules and procedures.
  • Ability to identify problems, evaluate alternatives, recommend effective solutions and to prepare reports.
  • Successful applicant must be able to have good organization and excellent verbal, written and telecommunication skills to effectively work with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to work effectively on a team, both as a leader and as a member.
  • Skill in operating telephones, computers, and applicable computer software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook.
  • Possess a valid Texas Driver's License and good driving record.

Work Hours and Telework:
Standard office hours for Commission employees are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Our agency offers alternate schedules for employees, as long as it does not adversely affect operations and service levels, and standard hours of operation are maintained.

The Commission may also offer telework based on the agency's approved Telework Plan. Alternate work schedules and telework may be discussed with the hiring manager during the interview process.
