- Understand and define project specifications and performance requirements at the board and system level
- Provide conceptual and detailed designs including schematic capture using OrCAD and simulations using PSpice
- Support FPGA (Xilinx) firmware development (VHDL/Verilog)
- Lead design projects from concept though to production release
- Fix electrical systems to identify the root cause of system failures and implement corrective actions
- Support the overall system design and execution by supporting system level schematics, cable designs, and feature integration
- Write user documentation that meets the defined quality standards for the engineering, manufacturing and service teams as required
- Support regulatory compliance activities (CE, UL, CSA, etc.) from the board level through full system certification
- Convey information to partners with a variety of technical and non-technical backgrounds
- Develop effective technical presentations up to the Product Life Cycle (PLC) level. The individual must also be able to effectively communicate with a broad range of people and cultures across the US, Europe, and Asia
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Minimum five (5) years of relevant work experience
- Solid knowledge of electrical engineering principals and have experience with analog, digital, and mixed signal electronics design
- Preferred skills: Analog and digital circuit design, firmware development for FPGAs (VHDL/Verilog), embedded software development for microcontrollers, and simulation of electrical circuits (PSpice, Ansys, etc.)

The KL Instruments Metrology Engineering team is looking for a Sr. Electrical Design Engineer who will be a member of a diverse interdisciplinary team brining designs from the concept stage all the way to production for our measurement instrument families. The design engineer will be involved in all phases of mixed signal printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) design, from specification development, through schematic capture, layout and fabrication to testing prototype hardware and releasing designs to production.
