Department Summary:

The UCLA Eli and Edythe Broad Center of Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Research (Broad Stem Cell Research Center (BSCRC)) is a multidisciplinary university-wide research organization on campus.

The center supports innovation, excellence, and the highest ethical standards focused on taking groundbreaking stem cell research discoveries from the laboratory to the patient for the purpose of revolutionizing the treatment of disease.

Since 2005, BSCRC has supported core facilities dedicated to the development and optimization of human pluripotent stem cells (hPSC), hPSC-derived target cell types, and other hPSC-derived products.

Several of our projects are currently advancing through the clinical translation pipeline. Additionally, BSCRC supports Good Tissue Practice (GTP) and clinical Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP)-compliant facilities to facilitate translational research.


Position Summary:


The project scientist will perform research on human embryonic stem cells (hESC), induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC), and other biological materials.

The incumbent will participate in biomedical studies including biochemical analysis, tissue culture and animal studies. Previous hands-on experience with multipotent stem cells is preferable.

They works under the direct supervision of the Laboratory Faculty Supervisor, Laboratory Manager, and other laboratory personnel to oversee maintenance of hESC and iPSC in a GMP/GLP level core facility.

Responsible for the maintenance of accurate records, the preparation of media and feeder cells as required to culture cells. Provide support to Faculty Supervisor, Laboratory Manager, and other laboratory personnel for preparation of SOPs.

Qualifications:

  • 12 Years in Laboratory (required) And
  • 1 Year in Stem Cell Research Laboratory (preferred)
  • Skill in tissue culture and sterile techniques (required)
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills and committed to maintaining highattention to detail across all tasks and projects. (required)
  • Skill in recognizing problems and taking appropriate action including asking questionsor notifying supervisor (required)
  • Skill in performing an variety of duties, changing from a duty/task to another of adifferent nature (required)
  • Possess strong interest in and enthusiasm for BSCRC's mission and demonstrate theability to work cooperatively with fellow scientific team and administrative staff. (required)
  • Knowledge of software programs MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook. Must beable to use and databases and tables. (required)

Education, Licenses, Certifications, & Professional Affiliations:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related science field (required)
