Description
The Department of Terahertz Devices and Systems at the Department of Electrical and Information Technology at TU Darmstadt is offering a position as

Research Assistant/Doctoral Candidate (f/m/d) on the topic "Understanding non-equilibrium spin-charge transport mechanisms towards high power and antenna-coupled spintronic terahertz devices (HIGH-SPINTERA)":
initially limited to a duration of 36 months with a planned start date of October 1st, 2023.

The employment is part of the project "Understanding non-equilibrium spin-charge transport mechanisms towards high power and antenna-coupled spintronic terahertz devices (HIGH-SPINTERA)", funded by the German Research Foundation.

The research will be conducted in collaboration with the University of Bielefeld and another department at TU Darmstadt. The focus of the research activities is the in-depth investigation and development of spintronic terahertz (100 GHz-10 THz) components.

These consist of a very thin, optically partially transparent metal layer stack, which is excited by lasers to emit terahertz waves.

In addition to functioning as a source in pulsed operation, the operation as a detector and in continuous wave operation will also be investigated.

The main focus of this work will be the electrical embedding of the spintronic material in an antenna structure, as well as the propagation of the emitted terahertz waves and their integration into compact housings.
