V. is currently seeking a Political Self-Representation Officer for the Crossroads | Flight. Migration. Disability. Office in Berlin, part-time (30 hours), fixed-term until December 31, 2023.

The goal of Crossroads | Flight. Migration. Disability. is to improve the living situation of refugees with disabilities in Germany. Crossroads currently includes three projects with different thematic focuses. The position is located in the Empowerment Now project.

With this project, Crossroads supports self-advocates (refugees with disabilities and their relatives) from the self-representation group "NOW Not without us" in advocating for the rights of refugees with disabilities to policy makers and administration.


We are looking for you as a Political Self-Representation Officer with 30 hours per week at our Berlin office to support this work.

Responsibilities


Your tasks in detail:


  • Support the selfrepresentation group "NOW Not without us" in identifying, jointly developing and implementing key topics of advocacy work (position papers, lobbying strategies)
  • Building necessary competencies for effective advocacy among selfadvocates, both in group format and individually
  • Arranging, conducting and preparing lobbying meetings with politicians and decisionmakers from the administration, together with selfadvocates
  • In consultation with the Advocacy Officer, representing the political positions of Crossroads/Handicap International, with the aim of reflecting disabilityspecific needs
