    NV5 Truckee is looking for a Project Engineer to serve as project manager in the performance of geotechnical field investigations, engineering and construction materials testing and special inspections. The candidate will perform and manage field investigations, environmental sampling, prepare geotechnical engineering reports, and manage construction earthwork testing. Independently performs project-related assignments.

    Responsibilities:

    Duties may include but are not limited to the following:

    • Developing the scope of geotechnical investigation and preparing proposals.
    • Understanding client objectives, code requirements and industry standards.
    • Managing and performing geotechnical field investigations.
    • Coordination with subcontractors for field investigations.
    • Environmental sampling.
    • Prepares work plans, interprets data and test results, prepares geotechnical engineering reports and may be responsible for other project components.
    • Performs geotechnical studies, evaluations, modeling, assessments, and investigations for specific projects.
    • Coordinates geotechnical and construction materials laboratory test data.
    • Requires knowledge of standard engineering techniques and procedures, and professional judgment to make modifications or execute complex features or solutions.
    • Capability to serve as technician for construction materials testing including nuclear gauge testing.
    • Maintaining client relationships and creating new project opportunities.
    • Project management: Manage projects from inception through completion and have primary responsibility for managing client expectations and ensuring that delivery meets expectations. Manage projects to meet client expectations for technical excellence, budget and schedule.
    • Position may require travel to work with other NV5 office locations.
    Qualifications:

    Education, Experience, and Skills:

    • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering, Geology, or Equivalent.
    • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering investigation, design, and Construction Quality Assurance (CQA).
    • Must have valid drivers license and an insurable driving record.
    • Experience with AutoCAD preferred.

    Certifications/Licenses:

    • Registered Civil Engineer (PE) in California or the ability to obtain a PE within one year.

    The pay range for this California position is $80,000 - $100,000 per year; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. This information is provided per California Senate Bill 1162. Base pay information is based on market location. Applicants should apply via the NV5 careers site.
