    The Department of Population Health at the Dell Medical is looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher Fellow.

    The position will be assigned for 1 year from start date, renewable based upon availability of funding, work performance, and progress toward goals, with option to continue until 1/31/2029.

    Position is a one-year assignment which can be renewed on an annual basis up to a total of five years.

    Previous time in a postdoctoral fellow position (whether paid or unpaid) at the University or at any other university counts towards this time limitation (unless the area or discipline changes).


    The PRIDE Health Lab within the Department of Population Health at Dell Medical School is seeking a postdoctoral scholar with a Ph.

    D.

    in Human Development and Family Sciences to expand the sexual and gender minority adverse childhood experiences scale and to improve the measurement of SGM identity-based life adversity.

    The study will include co-design sessions (including human-centered design and liberating structures methods) with the project community advisory board to develop a new measure of early life adversity in SGM adults.

    Along with the work being done on the SGM ACEs study the postdoctoral scholar will be a part of the Texas Institute for Sexual and Gender Minority Health Research and have the opportunity to spearhead an independent research program.

    Purpose

    The Department of Population Health at the Dell Medical is looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher Fellow.

    The postdoctoral researcher will spend 80% of their time on the study recently funded by the National Institutes of Mental Health which focuses on exposure to early life adversity in sexual and gender minority adult populations.

    The other 20% will be spent on developing and leading their own research program as a member of the Texas Institute for Sexual and Gender Minority Health Research.

    The position will support and manage survey data collection with our collaborators at Stanford University and support the analysis of survey data.

    Responsibilities


    • Provide oversight and train study team members in collecting data, dissemination, and community engagement.
    • Independently conduct qualitative data collection (e.g., in-depth interviews, focus groups).
    • Lead analysis of qualitative data and support quantitative data analysis.
    • Support the development of data collection instruments (e.g., interview scripts, surveys).
    • Support and lead grant writing.
    • Develop and lead independent investigations under the direction of PI Schnarrs.
    • Other related duties as assigned.
    Required Qualifications

    PhD degree in Human Development and Family Sciences, or related field. PhD must be received within the last three years. Requires one or more publications focused on sexual and gender minority health research, and/or early life adversity research.

    Skilled mixed methods researcher, who has experience and a high level of proficiency with collecting, managing, and analyzing quantitative and qualitative research data.

    Capability of leading data collection and analysis efforts with oversight from project leadership and senior staff. Requires working knowledge of qualitative analysis software (e.g., Nvivo, Dedoose). Experience and proficiency with qualitative data collection and analysis. Experience with developing and implementing study protocols. Experience with REDCap or other survey software. Experience with grant writing. Experience with training and supervising others to conduct qualitative research. Excellent communication skills.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Experience working in a medical or scientific research or comparable setting. Experience using virtual communication technology (e.g., Zoom) and willingness to learn other technologies as necessary. More than the required experience. Experience leading or supporting community engagement activities. One year of relevant experience.

    Salary Range

    $56,484+ depending on NIH level

    Working Conditions


    • May work around standard office conditions.
    • Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.
    • Occasional weekend, overtime and evening work to meet deadlines.
