General Information

Location: rd Ave Dr W, Bradenton, FL 34209

Days and Hours: Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm - Depending on events hours may vary.

This position develops, markets and implements events initiatives and programing that enhances Manatee County's growing facilities and services, increasing interaction with locals and visitors. Plans and coordinates large scale signature events while actively seeking new opportunities to bring unique experiences to the community. Manages the special event and film permits for events through the county various locations.

Note: This position has been designated by the Manatee County Commission as serving at the will and pleasure of the County Administrator. Employees so designated may be terminated at any time with or without cause.

Working Conditions

Indoor/Office situation; high noise environment while performing certain responsibilities. Lifting equipment up to 25 lbs. alone; up to 50 lbs. with assistance.

Job Description

Essential Functions

These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position.

Day to day requirements include scheduling and overseeing of all event related personnel, including hiring and terminating temporary/on-call staff.

Plans, assigns, directs and evaluates the work of assigned staff.

Determines tasks to be performed and personnel required for each event; will at times advise crew members of work schedules; supervises set-ups, teardowns and clean-ups.

Recommends additional or replacement equipment and supplies when deemed advisable; keeps up to date on new equipment, methods and technology.

Responsible for procurement and inventory of related equipment and supplies.

Works with third party vendor in menu development for concessions and other events.

Assists with creation and implementation of departmental policies, goals, objectives and procedures, conferring as necessary with staff members.

Determines goods and services to be sold and advises as to prices of said goods and services.

Performs other related work (including weather or other extreme emergency duties) as required.

Develops, monitors, and maintains an annual budget; oversees the management of all funds dedicated events division.

Develop and market the County's arts, cultural, and heritage activities, services, venues, and events outside Manatee County. Example of events are groundbreakings, ribbon cuttings, and open houses to educate and increase the public's awareness of County projects and operations.

Manages special permits and film permitting applications in parks and beaches.

Develops and integrates plans and programs with County department to achieve department objectives.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree, relevant to the position, such as Hospitality, Marketing, Public Relations,

or a related field.

Minimum of two (2) years related experience in public relations marketing, sales communications, social media, or a related field.

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
