JOB SUMMARY


The Maintenance Lead is under mínimal supervision of the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Team Lead performs a wide variety of skilled mechanical duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and modify equipment and facilities.

Involved in one or more craft specialties, including but not limited to, hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanics with some knowledge of drives and programming.

Provides work leadership, guidance and technical assistance to lesser skilled mechanics.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Comply with company Safety Policies and Procedures
  • Performs periodic inspections by checking equipment condition and settings before, during and after production to assure equipment is maintained and properly adjusted
  • Performs a variety of skilled work in the maintenance and repair of Extrusion lines, mixing operations and other equipment supporting the manufacturing process. Must be able to prioritize and coordinate the work assigned himself and other maintenance technicians
  • Understanding of 24/7 operation and the need to be on call
  • Analyzes, detects, and determines the nature of the problem and the extent of the repairs required. Troubleshoots and selects materials needed for the repairs. Prepares reporting documentation as required
  • Replaces, refits and assembles parts. Installs, maintains, rebuilds and repairs a wide variety of production equipment needed to maintain optimal performance and highquality product
  • Notifies Maintenance Manager of recurring equipment malfunctions, corrective actions taken, and root cause of problems or supplies needed. Makes recommendations for improvement
  • Operate machine tools and perform necessary welding and sheet metal operations required in repairing equipment or making up guards, brackets and supports. Depending on work location, operate a variety of equipment and machines including saws, drill presses and various hand and power tools to perform repair and maintenance work; maintain tools and equipment in a safe, clean and proper working condition
  • Perform skilled maintenance and repair on mechanical and a working knowledge of electrical equipment
  • Assists the Maintenance Manager in the preparation of preventive maintenance programs Assists in the purchase, installation, maintenance and repair of all equipment and parts associated to the operation of the facility
  • Maintain various records related to materials and work orders. Maintain tools, equipment and materials; operate fork trucks
  • Provides technical assistance, guidance and work leadership to the maintenance team as needed
  • Monitors and enforces all safety, quality, and environment rules and procedures
  • Provides input for corrective action as needed
a. Observes safety lock-out/tag-out procedures and provides training to production line personnel as required

b. Ensures that plant housekeeping is maintained in all areas in a clean and orderly fashion

  • Teams with Line and Production Supervision/Management to identify and support crosstraining and other development opportunities for all plant personnel. Observes and Monitors performance of production line employees on an ongoing basis and assists Line Supervisor in developing performance evaluations for production line employee
  • All other duties as requested or assigned by the Maintenance Manager
  • Regular attendance, timeliness and scheduling flexibility

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strong problem solving and decisionmaking capabilities, communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
  • Use hand and power tools, welding equipment, drill press, and other related industrial repair equipment.
Trade tools, equipment, materials, methods and techniques used in skilled and general maintenance and repair involving at least one of the following:
pneumatics, hydraulics, some electrical, welding

  • Demonstrate a solid level of manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude and be able to lift, pull, and carry heavy objects
  • Demonstrated knowledge in areas such as but not limited to: shop practices and procedures, hot work and fall protection procedures, diagnostic technique and equipment, and Cal-OSHA safety requirements
  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, sketches and work orders
  • Strong computer literacy: Microsoft Office and Excel required, SAP enterprise software preferred and computerized maintenance systems

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

The employee should have the following:

  • Training, or equivalent from 2 years college or technical school.
  • 3 years' experience in a relevant field.

The employee should possess the ability to:

  • Be exposed to sounds or noise levels that maybe uncomfortable
  • Withstand exposure to temperature extremes inside or out
  • Prolong standing or in stationary position
  • Complete repetitive movements
  • Bending, squatting and/or twist
  • Lift/move/transport items up
