Turn Turn Turn

Turn Turn Turn

In days long past I used to write of sunrises and the wonder of the sun touching the plants and trees.  I used to describe the birds singing and dancing in the morning rays while the clouds slowly moved on the morning breeze.  But that was long ago.

I have written about matters that touched the world and the pain caused.  I wrote of the problems we faced as a people and as a world.  I have written of the things I have seen and the issues that need repair.  But that too was long ago.

I have written of hope and an answer to problems that touched thousands, no longer.  Now I struggle to place pen to page, electronic words to cyber white.  Writing simply because it is a habit, perhaps in hope that some small idea will find its way into a mind.  I write because I have to.

Now I do not write to request your pity or response.  I am only saying this because the world turns.  The sun is revealed as the world rotates to remove the eastern mountains from its path.  Sunrise is the popular term.  A much more poetic term.  The world turns and with it the ideas and opinions of people.  The caustic opinions of people who speak only to hurt, to destroy. Yes, I am aware that this is nothing new, the world has always turned and with it the positions and opinions of people.

So, today I write not to enlighten or teach, not to offer hope or even a better idea, but simply because it is what I do.  I would tell you of a loving God who offers hope and eternity.  I would tell you of His wonders and joy that comes with walking with Him.  I would offer you the acceptance of a friend.  But those ideas and offerings are for a time, whether long or short, non grata.  So, I shall simply write.

Perhaps again tomorrow I will write of sunrises and ideas that touch a world, but until then I will simply place pen to page and enjoy the moments of creation that arise as words dance across my screen.  (no one can actually read it if I use pen and paper.)  I will wait for tomorrow or perhaps the tomorrow after that.  The world turns and with it the opinions and positions of those who ride with it.

Blessings.

Time for a break, Greg!

The bees still buzz and the birds still tweet,

The grass still tickles the soles of your feet.

The flowers still blossom with their stems so green,

They’ll still be here when we’ve left this scene.

Let’s go for a swim, come down to the bay,

The water’s getting warmer, the scientists all say.

Come touch and watch and smell and listen,

Nature’s talking, if we’d only listen.

It’s happened once, it’ll happen again,

She’ll regrow stronger in spite of her pain.

So waste no time, let’s go out and see ‘em,

Before they get housed in Joni’s tree museum.

Forget man’s inhumanity to man,

And our failure to produce our survival plan.

For when man’s long gone, it’ll be my guess,

Mother Nature will return to … her beautiful, magnificent, diverse … wilderness.
