Truth Knowledge and Freedom

Truth Knowledge and Freedom

ceae7526.png

We have often heard the phrase quoted “know the truth and the truth will set you free”. What truth, my truth or your truth? Perhaps we should know the truth according to politicians? Truth is used so fluidly that it is hard to know just what is true. The end result is we each end up with our own truth or what we believe to be true.

We have as example the flat earth society, who believes what they choose to believe, or any religion who again choose to believe what they choose to believe. There are many who would bluntly declare that what they believe is wrong and foolish to hold to. But what is truth?

Many of you will have noticed that the phrase I quoted is just a part of the actual quote. The full quote is “If you continue in My word, you really are My disciples. You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” And it is found in John 8:31-32. The point of the quote is to help people understand that there is only one truth and that is Jesus Christ and only in Him is freedom.

It is easy now to see why we have not been set free by knowledge because knowledge was never the point of the quote. So regardless of your position on the Bible and it’s truth we can easily see that knowing the point of a quote or phrase vastly influences the results we expect from it.

Thanksgiving is but a few days away. Have you made a list of what you are grateful for? Knowledge might not set you free but in this case it can help you smile!

Blessings

In my experience, any knowledge about these things without the relationship, is not true knowledge. So, we are in accord, even though we have a different approach to this topic altogether. Cheers

Certainly it is but we are not saved form slavery to sin by knowledge of God. We are saved by the sacrifice of Jesus and accepting that gift. The demons believe yet they tremble, they have the knowledge but not the relationship.

Isn't the word of Christ a form of knowledge?
