To follow the bouncing ball

To follow the bouncing ball

d3e097a1.jpg

Life at times appears to be nothing more than the pursuit of the bouncing ball. The ever moving changing goal line set before us. At first we call it school or collage or even our first job but the finish line never stays put. We follow the bouncing ball.

This ball this goal this path does it have an end? To have a goal a journey and even a plan is great commendable even but where does it finish? This ball we chase perhaps it is to be the best a great goal indeed but best at what for how long and by how much? Does the line move?

This ball we chase it never seems to pause stop or wait it simple travels on. Ever calling out consistently demanding more reveling further obstacles. What is enough where is the finish line how do I win?

This path I have set out on this road to success this plan is it worth the effort? Is what I have chosen to accomplish worthy of the pain and sacrifice the time and the energy? Who makes that call? I have been taught since grade school I must keep up with the Jones's at any cost to stay ahead of the curve perhaps even to set the bar. But at what cost? Where does the ball stop bouncing?

I am who I am and chase the ball I will each day seeking to master the goal stand at the top plant the flag. It is who I am how I have been taught the way I live. But is the goal this path this road going somewhere?

Money is nice and very useful but has proven to be at the end far from worthy, the ball only moves faster the further you go. Power comes at you hard and fast demanding much and returning dividends but what is it's end? And empty promise to be sure. Perhaps the goal is to make a better world a great goal indeed truly worthy of sacrifice but the question arises better for whom? Defined by what? In this arena the ball not only bounces but skips and eventually disappears far beyond your reach. But what is left? Love? A mix of the above?

We each stand on our road our path seeking our goal prize destination does it have value? I have been told that depression is the largest growing disease I must admit I am not surprised. For what path offers hope to encourage as we chase the ball? What road brings a smile as we see each sunrise gleam over the horizon? What goal puts a bounce in our step as we race after the ball a bounce to match it's?

Faith hope and love these three but the greatest of these is love. Regardless of what your job is to what you place your hand to make your goal love. And while this goal is far from easy for with it comes pain and plenty of anguish it is the only goal that also is worthy of the effort. For very few who have found it ever look back in regret.

Even the Christian Jesus died that man might obtain it.

The ball bounces and we do indeed chase but this ball is worth sprinting after.

Blessings

Greg Rolfe- I enjoyed reading your post and the triad you mention of faith, hope and love to live a purposeful life. Your image reminds me of the pendulum wave made of the synchronized movements of the balls. I covered this in few posts such as: https://www.bebee.com/producer/@ali-anani/ideas-are-like-dancing-pendulums My point is are we like distanced balls with everyone of us acting individually? Or, are we paying attention also to the movement of others so that a synchronized wave of social concern may result? We need to think out of our skin and see the world moving in an orderly fashion Enjoyed reading the post and so sharing it.

Kevin I expect that school is always open. If we choose to stop learning I would expect us to start dying.
