Seven Significant Benefits A Business Coach Imparts to You

Seven Significant Benefits A Business Coach Imparts to You

There comes a point where stagnation sets in for anyone in business. You can take yourself only so far in business without the help of others.

Enter the business coach.

Very rarely do you receive 100 percent dedicated attention to you and your business. A business coach is somebody who helps you move from where you are to where you want to be, and does so by solely focusing on your goals.

No matter what stage your business is at, a business coach can make you work harder and progress faster than you would on your own. From providing a much-needed ego check to helping expand your network of influencers, a business coach can give you both the tools and perspective you need to go from point A to point B.

Let’s dive into the seven significant benefits that a business coach can impart to you.

One: Personal Attention

The one aspect that a coach brings, that group sessions or “how to” books do not, is a keen attentiveness of your entire business and how you are operating within it.

It is not often when someone is going to focus just on you for an entire hour or more, investigating a slump that happened last quarter, or why your sales suddenly jumped, or your style of leadership.

Personal attention is something most business people lack in their lives. It’s lonely at the top and nothing can alleviate that isolation like a competent business coach.

Two: An Action Plan

Writing things down is the key to aligned, rapid action.

An Action Plan is a detailed plan outlining actions needed to reach one or more goals. BusinessDictionary.com defines an action plan as a, "Sequence of steps that must be taken, or activities that must be performed well, for a strategy to succeed".

You are most likely not bad at organization and prioritizing. The Human Mind is excellent at those things - you just need to write them down for continual reference. Once you are confident that you won’t forget the important stuff, your mind becomes clear and free for other vital activities.

Writing an Action Plan allows you to elevate the good stuff, focusing your mind and time on producing more of it.

Control and continuity cannot exist without documentation.

Three: Accountability

“Accountability breeds response-ability.” - Stephen R. Covey

Every great sports team has a coach. A coach is someone who's not afraid to confront you and tell you when you're doing something incorrectly. They have no back off telling you when you’re slacking off or BS’ing yourself.

A business coach can do wonders to bring results for hectic business people.

As you run a growing organization, everything gets complex; you get busy and sometimes push off things you know are important. This is where a business coach comes in. You can discuss the vital things you need to accomplish in order to achieve your goals, and your coach will hold you accountable.

Accountability alone will make you more effective.

Four: Trusted Confidant

When you run your own company, it's often hard to talk to people about your true concerns.

Life partners, employees, peers, and friends don't get it for different reasons. At the same time, there's a lot of noise in your head and around you. Trying to share your most intense concerns and challenges with those who are near & dear to you can seem destructive to your most important relationships.

Yet, you need to vent and be heard.

A business coach can provide that confidential, quiet space to focus, be a soundboard and problem-solve the priorities and challenges you face in business and as a leader.

Five: Perspective & Context

The analogy of completing a marathon when thinking about growing your business. The marathon is a grueling race for just about everyone.

Each person who completed it the same way: one step at a time.

The marathon, just like business, is not a sprint. In a sprint, every step and every second is significant. Over 26.2 miles, there are stumbles, slowdowns, or even complete stops for water are small blips on the radar that do not define the race.

As long as you are committed to your goal of completing a marathon (and growing your business), then you’ll push through toward the finish line.

Success and failure can produce extreme emotions. It is during these extreme high-low moments of affluence or emergency that we most need perspective and context to the big picture.

Six: Extreme Focus

“The successful warrior is the average man, with laser-like focus.” - Bruce Lee

Most business people wear twenty to thirty hats. From generating new customers, to servicing existing ones, while staying on top of fast-emerging technology, running a business can splatter one's attention. We then lose sight of the vital and important.

Too many work business people work IN their business versus work ON their business.

Extreme focus is key to generate attention in the marketplace, as well as drive execution on your important strategies and plans.

Seven: Reassurance That You Are Not Crazy

In business, you’ll often think that you are crazy.

There’s a good kind of crazy. It’s filled with inspiration, bright ideas, and brilliant 10X plans.

But there's also that bad type of crazy that seeps inside you like a virus with negativity, anxiety, doubts, and emotional rollercoastering.

A great business coach will help you separate the two types of crazy. He or she will reassure you that your good crazy is your intuition, heart, and soul all being in alignment.

Reassurance allows you to calm down and refocus on what you know is right.

In Conclusion

Every world-class athlete and every high-caliber executive uses a coach to bring out their best. Why don’t you?
