Obstacles to Goal Setting

Go on BeBee, Facebook, YouTube, or read a self-help book and I bet you’ll find a million different ideas about Goal Setting. Why? Because it works!
But the truth is there are 4 mistakes most people make when setting goals. Get them all right - and you’re on your way to reaching your goals. But miss just ONE?...
And you may kiss your goals goodbye. Here are the 4 mistakes most people make…
… and how to STOP making these mistakes, and START plowing through your goals. These are the 4 Obstacles to Goal Setting.
- Clarity - You have to vividly imagine in great detail what it is you want to achieve. Work on clarity for your goal. Spend time to clearly define what the moment of victory looks like for you. What will you be feeling when you achieve that monthly income goal, that relationship or that state of health that you have been dreaming. Make it a one page document - font 12, Time New Roman,, single spacing. With Clarity put down on the paper how you are feeling at that moment, written in present tense.
- Motivation- Once you have a clarity in what your goal is, you need to reach deep down in yourself to find the motivation which will be your goal driver. Your Motivation will propel you to the path of victory for your goal.
- Don't Know How - If you have clear goals and you have motivation but you do not know how to reach your goal, what you should do is not to reinvent the wheel, but rather look for someone who has glazed down that part, find someone who has the expertise in that area, a mentor, a coach, buy a book that teaches you the principle. That way you can learn how to get to your goals. Don't be afraid to ask for help and seek another who has already reached your goal.
- Align your heart and Mind to your Goal - Without alignment, you will be zigzagging towards your goal or better yet, you will miss it, so you what to make sure that you are totally and completely aligned in your heart, mind and the action steps that you are taking towards your goal.
I personally believe that Clarity is the most important obstacle to overcome. Once you have clarity, then the rest is simpler, not always easier, and fall into place.
