Bigger Than Life

In an age where hero worship is more of a voyeuristic appeal and hedonistic appetite for physical wealth and sensationalized antics than that of meaningful sacrifice and selfless contribution to humanity we bid goodbye to a true giant, warrior, pilot, husband, father, astronaut, politician and true American hero, John Glenn.

Born of humble means in middle America, an area recently characterized as a breeding ground of common deplorables, John rose to the call of his heart and his country. Decorated for service to his beloved homeland and freedom he broke the bounds of mere earthly pursuits and soared with wings of an eagle into the rarefied stratosphere of uncommon accomplishment.

John was quiet and unassuming in his quest to be the very best at experiencing the adventure and contributing to the well being of human existence. Never one to draw undue personal attention he dedicated his long and full life to God, Country and Family.

We have lost a true American Hero, but we have gained so much more by being blessed with the example of an exemplary life filled with meaning and a person of remarkable values. God Bless you John, as your bigger than life example continues to blaze a fiery trail towards the heavens. I pray that special spark of heroic fire will continue to touch the hearts of those who follow you in pursuit a perfect sunset of their own.
