Are you relevant on the issues about which you care?
A voice in the wilderness cries out, but who listens anymore. We each have an area that we would love to see put in proper order. For some it is social order others the school system while for still others it is the economic crisis. We each have something we care about or at least recognize as not working well. But what can we do about it.
Are you frustrated by the division we have in our countries? I expect most of you have noticed the fracturing of each of the major countries on this planet. Some blame the economy or perhaps a shadow world government. But what can we do about it?
If your issue is bigotry, is your voice one in the wilderness or the marketplace? My point is simple do you bring solutions to your problem of choice or do you just yell. Many people love to just talk about a problem offering no real solutions, no actions that promote health. Perhaps you have issues with the schools in America, what are you doing about it?
A very common statement is “you are either part of the problem or part of the solution”. While this is not totally accurate the idea has merit. There is a time where a voice in the wilderness has merit but there comes a time when you have to provide practical solutions to the problem you see.
Don’t get me wrong I am very guilty of “solving the world’s problems” while never leaving the couch. But there must come a time when we act or quit complaining. And while teaching others about a situation is valid, complaining to others about a problem you see is not teaching, it is still complaining. Yelling from the rooftops “hay look a big problem you should be scared of”, is not teaching it is fear mongering. Teaching is informing with a direction and a purpose; to cause another to learn.
If you have an issue you truly care about find a way to help find a solution or enact a solution. Illiteracy is a big problem, the solution is to help a child read not yell at a teacher. Volunteer.
Are you ready to go from being a voice in the wilderness to a hand in the marketplace?
