Description

Petersen Precision Engineering is looking for a Toolroom Technician to support toolroom related tasks defined by the department manager and lead.

In this position you will support production activities as they relate to tooling from troubleshooting/preventative maintenance and production floor operations.

Responsibilities:

Execute tooling related activities throughout the shop as directed by Toolroom Manager.
Support in construction and repair of dies, fixtures, and all other associated parts to accommodate production requirements.
Read blueprints, sketches, specifications, or CAD/CAM files
Compute and verify dimensions, sizes, shapes, and tolerances of workpieces
Set up, operate, and disassemble conventional and manual tools
File, grind, and adjust parts so that they fit together properly
Fit and assemble fine blank stamping dies
Use precision measuring instruments to check accuracy of work
Smooth and polish the surfaces of tools and dies

Requirements:

Ability to read, write and communicate.
Knowledge of fractions and decimals, angles and geometry as needed to calculate tool clearances, positions and size of tool features.
Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 50lbs.
Ability to acquire additional skills to set up and operate tool room equipment.
Follow all safety rules and keep the work area in a clean and orderly condition.
Works in an environment that may be uncomfortable, dusty, and loud. Is regularly exposed to moving metal/mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles, solvent, alcohol, and waterbased coolant.

Education & Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent with 5+ years of experience in manufacturing environment.
Certification in Tool & Die program preferred but not required.

Pay:
$ $28.00 per hour
