The Catholic Charities Food Pantry Network serves the food insecure at six locations throughout Greater Boston and provides additional services to external partner organizations.

The Food Pantry Coordinator oversees the fast-paced daily operations of their primary Food Pantry location including, but not limited to, supervision and coordination of the food pantry staff and volunteers, and compassionately rendering distribution of food items to the clients in our distribution centers, while maintaining personal and professional boundaries.

The Pantry Coordinator also manages all other food and nutrition related services offered by the pantry and represents CCAB in collaborating with relevant external organizations.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrates strong professional skills and integrity, including in stressful and/or emergency situations; Implements organizational and food pantry policies and procedures per the Director of Food Pantries; is proactive and enthusiastic.
  • Coordinates the orders and donation pickups from the Greater Boston Food Bank, local parishes, stores and other places as needed. Processes food donations and unload deliveries upon arrival. Prepare goods for distribution to other network pantries.
  • Demonstrates strong professional skills and integrity, including in stressful and/or emergency situations; implements organizational and food pantry policies and procedures per the Director of Food Pantries; is proactive and enthusiastic.
  • Attends and participates in internal and external meetings and trainings as required.
  • Displays sensitivity to the needs of individuals and families experiencing financial hardships, mental illness, trauma, and those from varied cultural backgrounds; maintain client confidentiality.
  • Works well independently and as part of a team. Supports other pantries as needed, including traveling to other sites, participating in the physical demands of the role, and flexibly accommodating pantry or volunteer group needs (occasionally). Provides team feedback as requested.
  • Communicates with the Media Relations/Advancement team as directed by Food Pantry Director (for example, providing volunteer photographs or client stories).
  • Ensures that the operation of the food pantry, its equipment and facilities meet all health and safety requirements.
  • Maintains a clean and organized food pantry and work area and keeps the building secure.
  • Meets with clients to checkin or register them for the Basic Needs/Food Pantry services.
  • Recruit volunteers from colleges, parishes, local high schools (public and parochial), community organizations, businesses, and other venues.
  • Performs work in the food pantry and in the office.
  • Completes special projects as directed.
  • Local travel as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in Social Work, Nutrition, or related field with prior experience in human services and 2 years of supervisory experience. Or, proven workrelated experience and a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • A valid license with 5+ years of driving experience, good driving record and willingness to drive 16' and 26' trucks and pantry vans. A CDL is NOT required. Must be comfortable driving on highways and interstates.
  • Bilingual speaking ability preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without the use of an assistive device.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Outlook. Willingness and ability to learn internal software systems.
  • Strong communication and problemsolving skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Availability for occasional weekend or evening hours
  • ServSafe certification preferred.
