Stem Cell Transplant Unit.

The University of Chicago Medicine is an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, meaning the hospital meets rigorous standards for state of the art cancer care as well as leadership in innovative, multi-disciplinary research.

In addition, the Oncology program is currently QOPI and FACT certified.

A
staff nurse is a registered professional nurse who manages patient centered care that is outcome directed. The Professional Practice Standards provide the foundation for the nurse to assess, plan, implement and evaluate the care provided.

The staff nurse assumes accountability for all patient care personally provided and that provided by those directly under his/her supervision.


The
10East Oncology Unit is a stem cell transplant unit that has a dedicated, insightful and compassionate team able to care for complex patients with an array of cancer diagnoses.

Our team is committed to providing high quality care in collaboration with our physician and multi-disciplinary partners to treat and educate patients and families.

Educational opportunities exist to expand the knowledge of the team on advanced research, treatments and therapy.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an NLN accredited School of Nursing.
  • Associate Degree in Nursing; BSN degree or higher preferred.
  • Associate Degree Nurses are required to enroll in a BSN program within six (6) to nine (9) months of hire, and make progress toward and complete their BSN degree within 30 months. ADN nurses receive 100% tuition reimbursement towards a BSN degree from an accredited program.
  • Current Illinois RN license
  • BLS

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1year nursing experience
  • ACLS
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing or higher
  • Specialty National Certification
  • Oncology background
