Project Description


RIVA is providing IT Services and Support to their customer's CIO office, Project Management Office, Network Infrastructure Section, Service Desk Section, and the customer user community.

The CIO's office manages all aspects of the customer's branch sections from projects to documentation and policies. The Project Management Office provides a framework, tools, and staff to manage projects and initiatives. The Network Infrastructure Section provides IT infrastructure support, including networking/firewalls, backups, data center management, and operating system management.

The Service Desk Section provides hands-on troubleshooting and user support for RIVA's customer users, including support for laptops, desktops, peripherals, smartphones, operating systems, and software.


Position Description

Responsibilities
The Database Administrator will be responsible for providing rapid response and technical support, ensuring mínimal disruption to operations


Additional responsibilities will include:

Database Management and Maintenance:Oversee the organization's database systems, which include SQL Server, MySQL, and Oracle databases, ensuring their optimal performance and reliability.

Backup, Recovery, and Security:Establish and maintain robust backup and recovery policies and procedures for all databases. In addition, the DBA will be responsible for implementing and maintaining stringent security measures, including user management and access controls.

Software Management and Upgrades:Handle the installation, configuration, and regular upgrading of database server software and related products. Keeping software current with patches and updates is crucial.

Capacity Planning and Technical Implementation:Strategize for database growth and evaluate and integrate new technologies, such as hardware, software, and cloud-based solutions.

Configuration Baseline and Security Controls:Establish and maintain a configuration baseline for databases, ensuring adherence to all CIS benchmarks. Strict adherence to security protocols and controls is paramount.

Database Inventory and Documentation:Maintain a comprehensive inventory of all databases and schemas, continuously available online using collaboration software. This inventory includes details such as purpose, data owner, and dependencies.

Monitoring Tools and Reporting:Implement on-premises and cloud-based monitoring tools to continuously assess database performance and promptly report outages and performance issues to the government lead.

Database Maintenance and Technical Assistance:Routine database maintenance activities, such as patching, upgrades, data migrations, and performance tuning, will be executed by the DBA. Provide technical assistance to system owners.

Personally Identifiable Information (PII)

Encryption:

Collaborate with the government leads, business owners, and the ISSO team to ensure that personally identifiable information (PII) stored in central databases is encrypted.


Requirements:


  • Minimum of 7 years of experience working as a Database Administer in a Federal environment or similar setting
  • Experience managing and administering relational database management systems (RDBMS) such as Oracle, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL
  • Proficiency in SQL, query language and database tuning and optimization techniques
  • Familiarity with database security best practices and compliance standards, including FISMA, NIST, and other relevant regulations
  • Experience implementing and managing database backup and recovery procedures, disaster recovery planning, and high availability solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex databaserelated issues in a timely manner
  • Experience with database performance monitoring and tuning tools
  • Familiarity with database replication technologies and data synchronization methods
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate with crossfunctional teams and communicate technical concepts to nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Experience using Azure DevOps and/or working in an agile environment.
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship or have been a permanent resident for more than 3 years

  • Oracle Certified Professional
  • Microsoft Certified Azure Database Administrator
