Advanced fiscal and clerical work requiring considerable responsibility and independence.

Prepares Department's payroll using Human Resources Information System (HRIS); processes confidential personnel paperwork; creates, researches, and analyzes statistical data and reports.

Prepares New Employee Requisitions (NERs), Personnel Actions (PAs), and other related Human Resources forms. Schedules interviews for divisions/sections; ensures that all paperwork is completed and handled properly. Calculates pay increases/stand-by/shift differential/Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA)/sick leave and all other forms of pay. Completes reports and timekeeping documents that are audited internally and may be subject to audit by outside agencies. Compiles and analyzes bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly reports. Delivers asset life cycle activities including the operation, maintenance, optimization, and rationalization of assets. Responds to employees' questions concerning sick/annual leave, County benefits, and Water Utilities Department policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of two (2) years of experience in bookkeeping or related work.

PREFERENCE FOR TWO (2) YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN/

WITH:

Inputting attendance and payroll entries/auditing payroll entries for accuracy using both manual and automated methods; working with a large volume bi-weekly payroll schedule; FMLA/Workers Compensation matters and Communication Workers of America (CWA)/union contracts/benefits; using HRIS or other automated payroll/attendance/timekeeping system (must specify system used); creating/composing/filing and retrieving electronic files (i.e., MS Word/Excel documents).

Also desirable:
One (1) year of experience in accounting.

Must pass a job knowledge examination to enter the fiscal series.
