Description

Sony Pictures Animation is a pre-production animation studio based in Culver City, California, creating both feature animation and animated series with artists from around the world.

We pride ourselves on empowering filmmakers to lead the creative process, and allowing the hand of the artist to be truly felt, with the goal of producing bold and innovative visual storytelling.

Responsibilities:

Concept, design, and or develop locations, sets, layouts, moments, and props for the project based on the directors' vision
Explore, conceptualize, and design a variety of stylizations, looks, and visual directions
Ideate and discover artistic expressions to enhance concepts and designs
Fully engage in all training activities and classes
Collaborate with and address notes from a Mentor/Supervising Artist in completion of all assignments
Proactively engage and collaborate with the Art Department
Attend and contribute to all Art Department Meetings

Qualifications:

Outstanding research skills and an understanding of environment design and worldbuilding
Drawings or paintings that demonstrate a strong understanding of perspective, color, composition, texture, and lighting
Ability to work independently and remotely
Timemanagement ability to meet real deadlines
Exposure to the art of animation through an independent or collaborative film project(s) helpful
Positive attitude with the ability to be flexible
Photoshop knowledge

The anticipated base salary for this position is $28.44/hour to $35/hour. This role qualifies for benefits pursuant to the collective bargaining agreement. The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of factors
