    Summary



    Eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit EDRP application within 4 months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.



    Duties


    Duties may vary based on grade. At the GS-6 full performance level of this assignment, the incumbent is assigned to the outpatient clinic, exhibits knowledge and skills necessary for concentrated effort and self-direction. The outpatient Clinic provides out-patient care for Veteran with a variety of health disorders; with age ranges from young adult to geriatric. Duties will include:

    • Coordinates nursing care for gynecology patients.
    • Provides pre-medication, assisting with sensitive exams, procedure set-up and turn over for procedures and treatments.
    • Ensures smooth functioning and efficiency of the clinic.
    • Provides effective education to patients and/or family members in relation to common disease processes, medications, and/or prescribed diagnostic and/or treatment regimes, as directed.
    • Ensures that schedules are reviewed prior to visit to confirm the necessary records have been obtained, length and type of appointment is appropriate, and to review pertinent history to hand off to the provider.
    • Communicates any concerns or deviations from normal practice pattern to the appropriate entity.
    • Manages communication with patients through phone calls, secure messaging, and/or CPRS alerts. Collaborates and promotes teamwork with colleagues of shared workspaces (i.e. clean and disinfect rooms, stock supplies, transporting labs).
    • Serves as a resource point of contact/mentor to other LPNs for frequently used equipment in the clinic setting and ensures that appropriate protocol for equipment use, cleaning, repair, and maintenance is followed.
    • Ensures that all pathology and cytology results are properly documented, tracked, and communicated with providers.
    • Ensures that results are communicated to patients in a timely manner per VA policy.
    • Assists the providers with completing FMLA paperwork for upcoming surgeries, and placing/pending pre-operative orders/consults.
    • Assists with cross covering other clinics as needed.
    Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
