- Completes dietary assessment; assesses client's nutritional status develops and coordinates an individualized nutrition plan of care, including involving the client/family in the development of the client's goals and collaboration with other health care professionals as necessary.
- Implements the nutrition interventions identified in the nutrition plan of care including client-centered counseling on nutrition and dietary recommendations/prescription, evaluating effectiveness and outcomes of care, and revising the nutrition plan of care as needed.
- Prepares for and teaches weekly WIC nutrition education group sessions, staff in-services and other classes as assigned.
- Demonstrates evidence of continuing educational development through participation in appropriate seminars, classes and/or in-services, as well as self-study materials.
- Demonstrate a high level of problem-solving skill to better serve patients and staff.
- Uphold the confidentiality requirements of all patient records consistent with HIPPA, state, and Federal laws and regulations.
- Ensure that all patients served experience a high level of customer satisfaction and coordinated care.
- Respond to patients, peers and referring agencies in a positive and timely manner.
- Registered Dietitian, Registered Dietetic Technician, Nutritionist, or
- Registered Nurse or
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Health or Home Economics field with an emphasis in nutrition. It is preferred that the individual has experience or course work in maternal and child nutrition, lactation, nutrition assessment and nutrition education.
- Bilingual (Spanish) Required.
- Current driver's license with clear driving record
- Current auto insurance
- Ability to work late evening hours based on program needs.
- Ability to work some weekend hours based on program needs.

SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of the WIC Coordinator, the WIC Service Educator performs general functions including performing WIC certifications, prescribing food packages, provide nutrition and breastfeeding education for WIC participants. The qualifications for a WIC Service Educator per Federal Regulations (7 CFR 246). The Women Infant and Children Supplemental Nutrition Program known as WIC, provides nutrition and health care information and services to low-income women and children. This program is aimed at protecting the health of women and children who are at risk for poor nutrition. WIC's focuses on the nutritional needs of pregnant, post-partum and breast-feeding women, and infants and children up to five years of age.
