Minimum Qualifications


Applicants Must:


  • Possess a valid high school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Driver License.
  • Have at least three (3) years of journeyman, contractor, and/or inspection experience, preferably on public works construction projects such as sanitary pipe lining, buildings, utilities, an upcoming sanitary dig and replace project, and/or similar projects.
  • Have knowledge of standards for materials and workmanship in construction projects.
  • Are able to read engineering plans and specifications related to civil engineering projects.
  • Are able to prepare detailed field reports and maintain daily records.
  • Are able to make complex, difficult inspections.
  • Be able to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Acknowledge this position is designated as Emergency Critical (EC) and if hired into the position, you must be immediately available to the department before, during, and after a declared emergency and/or disaster.

Desirable Qualifications


Preferred applicants:


  • Have a valid wastewater collection and/or water distribution license.
  • Have considerable knowledge of surveying practices and techniques related to construction.
  • Have experience in the construction and installation of potable water and/or wastewater pipes and utilities.
  • Have considerable knowledge of standards for materials and workmanship in construction projects.
  • Have some knowledge of contract administration, construction management, and estimating costs for construction materials, labor, and equipment.
