Overview:

Purpose Statement/Position Summary:

The Division of Neurological Surgery in the Department of Surgery at Children's Hospital of Los Angeles (CHLA) and the CHLA Medical Group is offering an employment opportunity for a physician to provide inpatient pediatric neurosurgical care.

The physician must be a graduate of a domestic or international medical school with at least one year of post-graduate training.

Neurosurgery, pediatrics, or neurology residency training is preferred, but not required.

This position is not accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pediatric Neurosurgical Fellowships (ACPNF) and will not qualify for American Board of Pediatric Neurological Surgeons (ABPNS) certification.


This unique opportunity involves inpatient care on a variety of complex pediatric neurosurgical conditions, including brain tumors, craniosynostosis, epilepsy, brachial plexus, vascular and more.

The neurosurgical inpatient physician will be primarily responsible for providing daily neurosurgical clinical care to a busy inpatient service along with a team of neurosurgical residents and advanced practice providers (APP).

There is also an opportunity to perform minor procedures across the breadth of the discipline as appropriate.

CHLA is an internationally recognized medical center ranked in the top 10 in the US. It is a free-standing, 495-bed premier teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Southern California (USC) since 1932. The Division of Neurosurgery at CHLA performs operative cases/year and sees nearly 6,000 outpatient visits/year. Average daily census on the neurosurgery service is approximately 20-25 patients.


Eligibility:


  • Graduate of a domestic or international medical school with at least one year of postgraduate training
  • Completion of a neurosurgical, pediatrics or neurology residency (domestic or international) is preferred, but not required
  • If international medical graduate, must be eligible for or currently have an H1B visa and a Social Security Number
  • Have an unrestricted medical license in California

Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience:
Education qualifications only MD. Prefer exposure and/or experience in a healthcare environment.


Education/Licensure/Certification:
MD, CA Medical & DEA Licensure and BLS/PALS certification.
