- Provides effective instruction to high school students in a hybrid classroom format (both in-person and virtual) during the designated work schedule. Develops curriculum and materials for assigned course(s).
- Participates in an orientation session and meetings as scheduled. Prepares, develops, and proctors one pre-test and one post-test for assigned course(s). Completes and maintains required reports (i.e., class attendance, supply lists, course syllabus, pre and post test results, final grades, etc.) and submits by the given due date. Adheres to established TRIO policies and procedures.
- Provides academic instructor in the following subjects: Science (Physical Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics); Math (Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus); English (English A [Level I & II], English B [Level III & IV]); Language (Spanish, French); Electives (Leadership, Social Justice, Video Game Design, Theater); and Test Prep (ACT, Strategy & Techniques.)
- Participates in out-of-class activities/events with students and parents as agreed upon with the UB Manager. Maintains continual contact with students and maintains good relations with UB partners, participants, and others.
- Models professional behavior. Handles disruptive behavior with respect. Follows guidelines, processes, and procedures. Reports any issues to the Manager. Monitors student participation and attendance.
- Fosters and maintains a safe environment of respect and inclusion for faculty, staff, students, and members of the community.
- Bachelor's Degree with at least one (1) year of teaching experience.
- State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).
- Experience working with TRIO students (first-generation, income-eligible) and students of color )

Compensation Type: SalariedCompensation: $30.00Job SummaryThe Columbus State Upward Bound (UB) program serves 70 high school students from Columbus City Schools. UB works with first-generation and/or income-eligible students to help them graduate and develop the skills necessary for college enrollment and completion. The Non-Credit Instructor is responsible for providing engaging and empowering academic instruction to program participants during the annual UB Summer Enrichment Institute (SEI). All courses are geared towards generating excitement for learning byintroducing the next school year's curriculum and academic skills. Each class should incorporate one overarching project. Students may work in groups or individually on the class project, and the projects will be presented at the end of SEI. Coursework should be based on culturally responsive pedagogy and multicultural perspectives.
