    The Talent Acquisition department hires qualified candidates to fill positions which contribute to the overall strategic success of Howard University.

    Hiring staff "for fit" makes significant contributions to Howard University's overall mission.


    BASIC FUNCTION:


    Howard University's Talent Acquisition Specialist is responsible for recruitment and talent sourcing efforts, to include utilizing expertise in talent acquisition to manage the applicant sourcing recruitment process for open positions; primarily for Howard University's College of Medicine, Faculty Practice Plan (FPP), and the Student Health Center.

    With an emphasis on building a diverse talent pipeline, as well as, providing consultative support to hiring managers as needed.

    This role will also support People & Culture and Talent Acquisition projects.


    SUPERVISORY ACCOUNTABILITY:
    Involves no responsibility or authority for the direction of others.


    NATURE AND SCOPE:
    Contacts include interfacing internally with a diversified group of Howard University staff.

    Externally, the incumbent interfaces with a variety of recruitment sources, a multicultural and diverse population, as well as professional organizations.


    PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
    Assist in the design and placement of inclusive job advertisements, utilizing Howard University's existing ERP system Workday.
    Conduct proactive sourcing for searches through social networking using Linkedin, Indeed, etc., industry connections, referrals, and resume databases.
    Foster external community relationships to help grow a diverse talent pipeline.
    Network both internally and externally to identify potential candidates and build talent pipelines.
    Update candidate records in recruiting databases.
    Provide proactive candidate sourcing support in order to grow the talent pipeline for the identified cost center support.
    Conducting resume pre-screening and informational interviews
    Building evaluation criteria and forms
    Post positions and process offers in the university's applicant tracking system.
    Provide support on Talent Acquisition interview feedback surveys to improve upon the interview and hiring process.
    Collaborate on the maintenance and distribution of Talent Acquisition reports including vacancy and retention related reports.
    Represent People & Culture in University-wide data user groups and support other talent analytics efforts as needed

    Advises hiring official(s) concerning any qualifications requirements, that are inconsistent with the official position description, and which require classification actions before posting, and obtains any supplementary information required for the judicious evaluation and referral of applicants.

    Will make professional reference checks and record the information received. Also, will make recommendations to prospective hiring managers on the overall outcomes of professional reference checks.
    Prepares offer of employment letters for candidates selected and notification of non-selection for appropriate personnel.
    Attends seminars, job fairs, and reviews of Internet job sites.
    Keeps abreast of new and updated standards and regulations related to staffing and employment.
    Performs other related duties as assigned.


    CORE COMPETENCIES:
    Knowledge of current recruitment principles, procedures, techniques, and practices.
    Knowledge of software packages such as word processing, spreadsheet, and database management.
    Knowledge of the Workday software system.
    Must possess excellent analytical, communication, interpersonal relations, and problem-solving skills.
    Ability to adhere to policy/procedural changes.
    Ability to quickly respond positively to change.
    Ability to develop and maintain a pool of highly competent candidates for which no current vacancies exist.

    Ability to be a supportive and productive team member with a focus on providing courteous, polite, positive, and professional customer services of the highest quality.

    Ability to write reports clearly and concisely.
    Ability to keep accurate records.
    Competence in both oral and written English to communicate in a clear, concise, and professional manner.
    Ability to establish and maintain effective and harmonious work relations with faculty, staff, students, and customers.

    Ability to possess exceptional customer service for client groups as well as hiring managers, employees, and senior leaders throughout the University.


    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
    Bachelor's degree in human resources or any business-related course curriculum.

    5+ years of experience in Human Resources or other related fields (customer service, sales, etc.) 1 + years of Healthcare recruiting experience.

    Project management skills; display sound evaluation skills, while operating in a flexible and professional manner.

    Experienced PC user including Windows-based software, Word and Excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets), as well as Microsoft Teams, and Outlook.

    Preferred experience in Workday Recruitment. Experience communicating and working with all levels of stakeholders. Maintain the confidentiality of material that is sensitive in nature. Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.
