Primary Purpose:

Work under mínimal supervision to organize and perform the routine work activities of the public information office. Assist with preparation of written materials for district publications and maintain District website.


Qualifications:


Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree or higher preferred


Special Knowledge/Skills:
Demonstrated skills in writing, proofreading, editing, and desktop publishing

Excellent public relations, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos

Ability to perform a variety of tasks often changing assignments on short notice with little or no direction

Ability to use software to develop spreadsheets, perform data analysis, and do word processing

Ability to maintain accurate and auditable records

Ability to meet established deadlines

Ability to maintain website and other social media platforms


Experience:

At least five years editorial or desktop publishing experience


Major Responsibilities and Duties:


Publications and Information Services:


  • Assist with writing copy for brochures and publications produced by public information office. Read copy to detect errors in spelling, punctuation, and syntax.
  • Assist with production, publication, and distribution of district newsletter, publications and news releases.
  • Transcribe recorded interviews and notes.
  • Take photographs for district publications, presentations, and displays. Record meetings or programs (both video and audio) throughout the district.
  • Attend district/campus events for publication.

Records, Reports, and Correspondence

  • Assist with all district correspondence and notifications.
  • Maintain a log of media calls and public information requests and Facility Use request responses in a timely manner.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, correspondence, and other documents as required.

Other:


  • Answer incoming calls, greet visitors and respond to routine inquiries from public, media, board of trustees, and staff as directed. Take reliable messages and route calls to appropriate staff.
  • Provide clerical assistance as needed.
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Coordinate and facilitate planning of District Events
  • Work closely with superintendent to plan District campaigns, meetings and materials.
  • Oversee the contracts for photography companies for staff and student photos. Coordinate with departments (Human Resources, Technology, Safety & Security) on student/staff photo id's.
  • Coordinate with all departments for compile annual District accomplishments.
  • Coordinate with all departments to plan and execute employee recognition efforts.

Website/Social Media:


  • Build, maintain and update district website.
  • Train and oversee campus webmasters.
  • Maintain and update all social media platforms.
  • Access and safeguard all social media platforms.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None.

Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals; camera(s), video cameras; desktop publishing software

Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
