Description

Role and Responsibilities


Installs, configures, repairs, tests, maintains and troubleshoots all life safety systems, including (but not limited to) fire alarm, access control, surveillance/cameras, intercom, audio, and cabling, labeling, testing and terminating for all systems and any other systems assigned.

Technician must ensure work is completed according to plans and is done in accordance with relevant codes.


Qualifications and Education Requirements
Must have 5 years of experience in field.

Experience with fiber terminations a plus but not required


Licenses
Valid driver's license and ability to be insured. May be required to acquire and maintain other certification.


Preferred Skills
Knowledge of materials, methods and the tools involved in installation, maintenance and repair of low volt systems and equipment. Knowledge of applicable building codes, regulations and ordinances.

Ability to operate drills, conduit benders, drill presses, cable pullers, meters (volt, OHM, AMP, Meg), hand drills, hand tools and power tools.

Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner. Ability to read blueprints and schematics. Ability to use a computer. Ability to use diagnostic programs/software and equipment. Strong ability to work independently or oversee a team and work efficiently required.


Work Environment
This job operates in mostly a field environment, with some meetings and operations conducted within the office. The field environment will be on construction sites or inside existing buildings. Working conditions can change dramatically from one job to another.

This role routinely uses standard office equipment, such as computers or tablets, phones, copiers and filing cabinets.


Other work tasks will require:

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends (and sometimes holidays) to meet customer requirements.
  • Travel to job sites and customer locations within assigned regions.
  • Overnight travel may be required at times.

Physical Demands
This is a largely active role.

Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.

This position requires repetitive movement; climbing ladders, scaffolds or poles; standing, walking or running; using hands to handle, control or feel objects, tools or controls; and bending and twisting.


Some specific demands include:

  • Being capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 5070lbs.
  • Being able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult position such as climbing, ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 40', working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.

Typical Hours:
Monday

  • Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm; Early arrival and/or overtime maybe be necessary.
