    Job Description

    SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:

    The Direct Support Staff is in charge of all aspects of resident care and routine maintenance of the residence.

    WORKING RELATIONSHIP:

    The Direct Support Staff reports directly to the Manager and the Lead Direct Support Staff for all job responsibilities. Establishes relationships with:

    • Residents, Manager, Lead Direct Support Staff, co-workers, Agency Nurses, Agency Behaviorist, residents' family and/or guardians, Healthcare Consultants, DDS employees, and community members.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. High School diploma or GED required.
    2. Obtain and maintain medication certification.
    3. Strong interpersonal relationship and communication skills.
    4. Maturity, good judgment, and ability to handle confidential information.
    5. Proficient in First Aid, CPR, PMT, Abuse/Neglect, DDS Medication Administration, and other medical and habilitative needs. Attend required in-services and staff meetings. Follow agency policies and procedures.
    6. Competent in basic computer skills, experience with electronic health records preferred.
    7. Valid Connecticut Driver's License and eligibility for Network, Inc.'s auto insurance.
    8. Physically able to assist participants when necessary and proficient in the electronic health record system THERAP.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Participate in providing direct resident care and documenting activities as appropriate including:

    • activities of daily living (ADL)
    • individual plan goal activities
    • socialization
    • development and communication skills
    • interpersonal relationships
    • self-preservation skills
    • habilitation skills
    • personal hygiene
    • transportation
    • role modeling
    • leisure and recreation skills
    • cooking skills
    • implementing behavioral plans

    2. Participate in routine residence maintenance.

    3. Safeguard and handle residents' belongings and funds on the premises.

    4. Document resident and residence electronic health records including:

    • resident status assessments
    • daily task analysis charts
    • inter-staff communication
    • medication administration
    • resident attendance
    • residence maintenance records

    5. Assist in meal preparation as needed.

    6. Engage in staff in-service and meetings.

    7. Respect residents' rights and relevant legislation.

    8. Adhere to community residence policies and procedures.

    9. Work as a team member in all duties.

    10. Maintain resident and record confidentiality.

    11. Cover coworkers' absences including emergency staffing.

    12. Perform other necessary duties.


    Schedule:
    Sunday 2:00pm- 10:00pm
    Monday 1:30pm- 10:00pm
    Tuesday 1:30pm- 10:00pm
    Wednesday 1:30pm- 10:00pm
    Full-Time (33.5 hours/week)
