Coding and Documentation Specialist - Population Health

We are currently looking to hire a Full Time Coding and Documentation Specialist to work in our Quality Assurance Department
Coding and Documentation Specialist - Population Health Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze medical records to ensure accurate coding based on clinician documentation
- Assign appropriate ICD10 and other relevant codes to medical procedures and diagnoses based on clinician documentation
- Complying with medical coding guidelines and policies: Commercial, Medicare, Medicare Advantage
- Prioritization of HCC coding inclusion and attention to HCC/ risk adjustment coding models based on clinician documentation
- Reviewing patients' charts and documents for verification and accuracy
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and other staff members to ensure accuracy of coding
- Following up and clarifying any information that is not clear to other staff members
- Collaborate with manager in the development and improvement of work flow processes
- Participate in completion of special projects as assigned by management
- Collecting information made by the Physician to prepare reports as needed
- Quarterly reports and presentations to management
- Generate Excel spreadsheets for special projects as assigned
- Implementing procedures and choosing strategies and evaluation methods that provide correct results
- Stay updated on changes in medical coding guidelines and regulations
- Perform other duties as required
Coding and Documentation Specialist - Population Health Requirements:
- Medical Coding Certification from AAPC or AHIMA (CPC)
- ICD10CM and
HCPCS:
1 year (required)
- CPT, Category II, and/or E/M Coding: 1 year (required)
- EMR systems: 1 year (required)
- Associate degree or higher
- A minimum of three years of experience as a certified medical coder
- A minimum of one year of HEDIS knowledge/experience
- Familiarity with MSSP, Value Based Care &/or Accountable Care Organizations
Schedule:
- Overtime as required
Job Locations:
- Princeton, NJ
- Possibility of occasional travel to other offices in Monroe or Plainsboro NJ.
