This is an hourly position. Annualized, the salary range for this position is $66,462 - $80,253.


We are looking for a Process Technician - Packaging to execute standard operating procedures (SOPs) to package ion traps for use in quantum computers.

Partnering with a cross-functional team, the Process Technician will work to support ion trap characterization and packaging.

This critical team member will work to drive future designs through a disciplined engineering approach as we progress on our mission to build the world's best quantum computers to solve the world's most complex problems.


Responsibilities:


  • Work closely with Design, Process and Production Engineers to follow detailed work instructions to inspect, assemble and characterize packages for ion traps with a safety and quality mindset and a highlevel attention to detail
  • Support daily cleanroom operations
  • Assist with the assembly and testing of components for Quantum Computers.
  • Capture and document assembly best practices and present findings to technical teams
  • Assist Physicists and Engineers with repeatable tasks in Research and Development and Systems Operations

You'd be a good fit with:

  • Minimum 2-year technical degree and 3+ years of hands-on experience in a fast-paced, high-tech electronics / optomechanical / manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in electronics / optics assembly, following work instructions and providing detailed feedback.
  • Comfortable working in an engineering/development cleanroom environment
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting, as well as cross functionally with various organizations.
  • Detail oriented individual with the ability to demonstrate fine motor skills.
  • Experience working with hand tools and performing small lab repairs.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow blueprints, technical specifications and operating procedures.
  • Ability to perform moderate strenuous physical and repetitious work
  • Experience with data collection and analysis
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Google Sheets and MS Office

You'd be a great fit with:

  • Demonstrated experience working in electro-optical packaging
  • Experience with flipchip bonding, wire bonding and other electronics assembly processes
  • Experience with cryogenic systems.
  • Experience with ERP, PLM and MES systems.

Location:

This role is located at our headquarters in College Park, Maryland.

Our HQ is located in College Park, Maryland and we are a 15 minute metro ride from Washington DC. We are actively building out our recently opened manufacturing and production facility in the Seattle, Washington area.

Depending on the position, you may be required to be located in Washington DC, Seattle, Washington or the Toronto, Canada area.

However, IonQ will be expanding into additional geographies both domestically and internationally so don't let this stop you from applying.
